Leinster finals on the double for two Offaly football teams

Saturday sees two Offaly teams look to land Leinster success as both St Brigid’s and Shamrocks line out in Leinster finals.

Shamrocks will have home advantage in O’Connor Park as they take on Kildare’s Twomilehouse in the Leinster club Intermediate football decider while St Brigid’s will make the long trip to Drogheda to take on Louth champions Dundalk Young Irelands in the Leinster club Junior final.

Shamrocks have been in impressive form to date and having come through Offaly unbeaten, they took care of Wicklow, Carlow and Wexford opposition on route to the final. Their semi final win over Horeswood of Wexford was particularly impressive but it came at a cost with Scott Delaney, Alan Heffernan and Conor Condron all on the injured list.

Twomilehouse will go into the game as favourites but it seems that both teams will have their toughest test of the year and an exciting and compelling game of football lies ahead.

St Brigid’s were beaten in the Offaly Intermediate final by Ferbane but as it was Ferbane’s second team, it was the Croghan men who were chosen as the Offaly representatives in the Leinster club Junior championship.

They have defeated Meath, Dublin and Kildare opposition to progress to the final as they look to end the year on a positive note and land a history making Leinster title for the club.

Both games throw in at 1.30pm and there are extensive previews of both games inside on pages 74, 75, 77, 78 and 79.
